Welcome to the Rossgarth Youth Football Club website.

Rossgarth YFC is an FA Charter Standard club based in the Verwood and surrounding areas, providing opportunities to boys and girls of all abilities.

Rossgarth YFC was founded over 40 years ago and from humble beginnings over many years the Club has expanded to nearly twenty teams offering boys and girls aged from 5 up to 18 the opportunity to play football at whatever standard they seek to achieve.

Whilst Rossgarth is run entirely by volunteers the ethos is that it is run as professionally as possible. In testimony to this Rossgarth attained the F.A.’s Charter Standard Development Club Status in 2003. This qualification ensures that the manager and coaches of every single team are trained to Level 1 F.A. coaching standard. They must also have been trained in Emergency First Aid and attended the F.A.’s Safeguarding Children course complete with an F.A. CRB check. Furthermore, as is appropriate, the Club has a constitution to follow and strict code of conduct guidelines which all players, parents and spectators are expected to adhere to.

Obviously, all this volunteer training does not come cheap, but the cost is not passed on to the young players or even their parents. Instead, these same volunteers help for one weekend of the year to run our summer 6-a-side tournament for as many age groups as possible, which generates enough income to cover these training costs.

New faces are always welcome to help out, both generally and particularly during the Tournament weekend, and believe it or not it is actually a lot of fun.  By hiring local school playing fields and Potterne park we are able to offer training to all players, at no extra charge to the individual players unlike many other local teams.

Naturally, however, there are still costs to bear and for this we must charge a nominal annual fee to cover Insurance, FA County affiliation, League entry etc. Match fees are also unavoidable to help cover the cost of pitch hire, but again minimised to an affordable level.

Training equipment, balls, cones, poles, bibs, etc are provided to each team and we try to get sponsorship from local businesses to fund the cost of kit for each and every team, although recycled kits are kept to ensure that we always start our matches smart and presentable …… even if the mud means we don’t always finish that way.

Now you know about the Club, its just a question of strapping on your boots and kicking a ball …… what a fantastic way to spend your Sunday !!

The club also works closely alongside Verwood Town, teams playing in the Sydenhams League (Wessex) Division One and Bournemouth (Saturday) Premier Division.

If you wish to join Rossgarth or know someone who does, please contact the relevant manager for your age group or any of the committee members!
